LeBron James: No Longer the #1 Player in the NBA, But Making an Impact off the Court

Lebron James has been known around the world as the biggest star and best basketball player in the NBA for almost two decades now, but just a couple weeks ago it appears his reign may be over. SportsIllustrated.com came out with the list of the top 100 basketball players in the NBA, and for the first time in 17 years LeBron was not #1.

In fact, he was not even #2; he was dethroned by Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers and Giannis Antetokounmpoofthe Milwaukee Bucks. This was huge news because ever since Lebron entered the NBA, he has been a household name and the face of the NBA. With being a nationwide celebrity in high school, drafted #1 overall, and winning multiple NBA championships, he has left his mark on the NBA forever.

LeBron may not be number 1, but he is more than a professional athlete. He has made an impact off the court and in the community. Last year, he announced the opening of the I Promise School. It is a public school for underprivileged kids in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, and it is supported by LeBron James’ foundation.

So, while LeBron James may have fallen in the rankings, he is still a top player in the NBA who is making an impact on the community around him. His legacy will remain, and he still has more years to play and possibly take his throne back.
