National Collegiate Leadership Conference
Students from the Student Leadership Organization attended the National Collegiate Leadership Conference in Tucson at the University of Arizona Campus on February 17 – 19th.
The theme of the conference was “Navigate With Purpose” Students attended workshops to develop their leadership skills. Upon completing these workshops students received a certificate of completion.

Phi Theta Kappa
Students from Phi Theta Kappa’s Alpha Theta Delta, Central Arizona College’s chapter of PTK, traveled to Paradise Valley Community College to attend the annual regional conference on March 3-4th. Students participated in fellowship activities that included networking workshops. At the conference our very own Berenice Pelayo was elected Vice President of the Southern Region!

Lost Dutchman Days
Lost Dutchman days held its annual celebration on the weekend of Feb 27th in Apache Junction. Students from the Student Leadership Organization, the Massage Therapy department, Phi Theta Kappa and the DREAMers participated in the parade and passed out candy to children. The event has hosted a rodeo, a carnival, a barn dance, and other fun activities annually since 1965. Central Arizona College Students were excited to participate this year since they had not been involved in the last few years. The students had a wonderful time interacting with the crowd and recruiting potential members to their organizations.

DREAMers
CAC DREAMers club is hosting a talk by ASU Ph.D. candidate and attorney Judith Perera at the Superstition Mountain Campus in room F115 at 6 P.M. on Tuesday April 4th: “For All To Know: Uncovering Hidden Stories of Immigrant Detention.”

The DREAMers club will hold meetings that are open to all on ITV at 1:30 p.m. on:
March 23rd, April 6th, April 20th, and May 4th.

Pioneer Days
Pioneer Days in Kearny will run from March 15-18 at the Downtown Pioneer Park. On Saturday, March 18, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Maria Munoz and Maren Wilson will be volunteering and providing information about CAC classes and Phi Theta Kappa. AVC officers and SLO officers will be participating, and we hope Phi Theta Kappans from the other campuses will come join us in fellowship and service. As this is a recruitment activity, it will count as a College Project activity.

Pioneer Days is put on by the Copper Basin Chamber of Commerce and will feature at least thirty exhibitors, a parade, queen contest, horseshoe tournament, and a carnival.
