On 27th October 2015, in Avondale Az. both our women’s and men’s cross country teams won the Region One Championships, Again!!!    Our women’s team placed five of the top nine runners out of a field of 38, with champion runner Marleena Eubanks of CAC leading the way.

For the men, it was absolutely pure dominance, as our team took the top five positions to score a team total as low as you can go.  In cross country the lowest combined score wins.  We scored 15,  our top five runners of the race. Defending National Champion Harry Mulenga led the five man finish in a time of 24 min. 47 sec.  This is an 8K race or 5 miles, and Harry was feeling under the weather yesterday.  WOW….

Again, our Head Coach Paul Tavares and his assistant Jon Harmon are to be congratulated on yet another unbelievable team performance, and I might add,  so fun for me to witness and be a part of as Chair of Cross Country / Track and Field for the Conference.  The ACCAC.

Nov. 8th in Lubbock TX.  Both teams will once again be competing for the National Championships.  If and when any of you see these young women and men around campus or in your classes,  I encourage you to give them a pat on the back and wish them continued success.  Oh, Coach Paul could use one as well.
