Maricopa Campus Job Fair Small, But Successful
Print out your resume and dress your best, it is time for the Job Fair. Hosted by CAC’s Maricopa Campus and held in A building on Tuesday September 23rd, this event drew the attendance of many students and residents for the chance to find a job. There were many booths with career choices ranging from janitorial to police work, suicide prevention to travel sales, and health to retail.
If you are unsure of what a job fair entails, Imagine a room filled with tables in a circle with the names of the company on the front and representatives of said company standing behind. You print out your resume, make sure you have multiple copies, dress like you are going to an interview, and walk up to the tables and ask questions, choose the ones that most interest you and pick up the appropriate applications. In my experience for this particular job fair I printed out ten resumes and only ended up handing out three of them.
This job fair was not particularly big and according to most attendees, they would have preferred if there were more selections. That does not mean however that it was not helpful to them, and according to Mark Munoz a student here at CAC: “This job fair was beneficial to me. I would have liked to see more local companies, but other than that, I thought the set-up was good at CAC.” We can look forward to more job fairs in the future, which will, hopefully, be larger! Keep your eye out for the next one and be sure to attend – resume in hand!
