DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun
Art Club Expedition
November 1, 2014
During this past semester, the Central Arizona Collage (CAC) Art Club took a field trip to the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun. While there the students were able to view the beautiful works of DeGrazia’s art and were also able to take some amazing landscape photographs outside the gallery. The photographs which they took were then turned into beautiful works of painted perfection.
Opened in 1950, DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun, located in Tucson is admired by all. DeGrazia was known to be rebellious and passionate with his Southwest style of art. Degrazia spent most of his life doing what he loved —art. In 1982 DeGrazia passed way, but his spirit lives on for many at his 10-acre compound.
Art Club member Barb Hamzik currently has her painting of the Mission in the Sun on display in the Student Gallery. The Mission in the Sun is one of the eleven buildings located on the museum property, which DeGrazia constructed in 1952.
If you ever have the opportunity to take a trip to visit the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun, I would encourage you to do so.
